Green Balance

These small scale paintings (cold wax on board) are distillations of skies and geological features. The inspiration began during a road trip in the southwestern of America - driving under the endless skies, past layered mesas and far off horizons to, among other destinations, The Grand Canyon, The Petrified Forest and Painted Desert. And the sky continued to inspire upon return to Ontario, especially the gradations of brilliant colours during the rising and setting of the sun - with a bit of geometric hard-edge abstraction and op art thrown in.
