Night Walks Through the Garden

Oil and cold wax on canvas. 60" x 48".

Based on impressions from evening visits to the gardens and forests of the arboretum in Guelph, this painting attempts to capture the bursts of colour and delicate moments observed and felt while walking through the grounds. Some of the colours are revealed by scraping away while others lay on top of the surface, leading the eye around the canvas in a dynamic and vibrant composition.
